Starting off, I didn't expect to start with a full team right away. But it was nice to have it so early in the game. It helped early on, even though a lot of the second types didn't appear until the final stages later in the game.
The power of the team is undeniable, as the Starters have really good stats throughout the entirety of the game. The only surprise was when I lost to Hau in Paniola Town. Beyond that, the diversity of the move pool for each Trial and main battle made it nice to go through. This was also fun because I got all three of the new starters and could compare them all at once. Everybody going in liked Decidueye best, and playing through, Decidueye is great, and Incineroar and even Primarina are really great, too. They don't have any sort of speed, but there are ways around that.
This was a fun and great team. The starters are some of my favorite Pokemon, and while I didn't get any of the Generation I, II, or V starters, I didn't miss any of them. Blaziken, Sceptile, Empoleon, and Greninja I've all had before and are all awesome. Jolteon is also amazing and another solid choice. The new starters stood up to them too. I think Incineroar is my favorite of this new batch of starters.
The Starter Team led by Satoshi, named of course for the creator!
Robin Hood
Tony the Tiger
Triton, King of the Seas
Phoenix
Secret Agent Gex
Napoleon, the Conqueror
Yoshimitsu
Zues, God of Thunder
Decidueye's nickname is pretty self explanatory, its a forest archer. Inceniroar is a tiger, and he's grrrrreat! Triton is a male, and so I named him after the King of the Seas and Poseidon's son. Blaziken isn't necessarily based off of the legend, but it is a firebird and Phoenix is just a cool name. Gex was a trilogy of games from the original Playstation and a gecko, like Sceptile and its evolutionary line. Empoleon is based on, well, Napoleon. Greninja is a ninja and its ability Protean, changes its type based on attack, so after the ninja from Soul Calibur and Tekken who is always changing appearance just felt right. And Jolteon, is named for the King of the Gods himself.
