The Warrior Kyoshi

A brand new adventure, featuring a brand new Avatar!

I will be doing this run through in Pokemon X, taking place in the Kalos region! I chose to send her through the Kalos region because I can buy green clothes for the player character in these games, and I can't do that in the Hoenn based games. There is a very high chance this will bite me in the butt.
A quick rule recap, I can only use Pokemon that are a combination of Ground, Rock, Fighting, Steel, Bug, and Normal. I can receive these through any means, and anything that doesn't fit must be wonder traded or set aside for my personal collection and cannot be used.

Let's get started!

We leave our home in Vaniville Town and head to Aquacorde Town with our new neighbors and get a Pokedex and a Chespin, which we wonder trade for our true starter...Bunnelby...

Which oddly looks like something
that would follow Kyoshi on her travels

Catching a few other things to wonder trade, I receive several Pokemon I can't use including but not limited to Zebstrika, Vavillin, Wobbufett, Litleo, Wurmple, and many, many Zigzagoon. After about 12 trades, I got nothing I can actually use.

I was expecting this to be the first thing I got.
How hard is Geodude to catch in Gen VI?

Anyway, after many trades I got a Zangoose (at level 1, which means there are still people breeding in this generation, so yay!) and a Cubone, which is level 16 so it's just Zangoose and Bunnelby for now.

Zangoose, while it is a pure Normal-type and I wouldn't usually add it to a team, even though according to the rules I can, got me thinking. Why isn't it ground type? It's based of the mongoose, which has a rivalry with cobras, and more often than not wins that fight, and it has a rivalry with Seviper. Mongooses also live in burrows underground. It's also one of my favorite Pokemon.

Moving forward, we head through Santalune Forest, training and raising our Pokemon in preparation for the first Gym. Not quite up to the task just yet, since I can really only use Zangoose and Bunnelby, I'm not quite ready yet. So we continue to battle the trainers on Route 3 and Route 22, before we enter the Gym itself.

Dropping down and landing on the spider web of the gym, we defeat the gym trainers, and finally face the Gym Leader Viola herself!

Her bugs are no match for Bunnelby and Zangoose! With her badge in hand and roller skates on feet, we head out to Route 4 and the rest of Kalos!
