The OG's

What better place is there to start a journey through all of the generations than the very beginning? We are starting with Generation I! I of course chose to honor the very first avatar many of us played in the original Red, Blue and Yellow. Without taking on his journey and catching and battling to become the very best, there wouldn't be the global phenomenon of over 20 years. We are of course, Red!

We started this journey in Pokemon Y, since none of the Kanto based games have wonder trading, and the Kalos region has several Generation I Pokemon, including some that are obtained the exact same way as in the original games. With the stage set, our journey begins!

Because we are doing this in a different region, we start not in Pallet Town, but instead Vaniville Town. I had decided that the generational pseudo-legendaries are to be each games starters, and after transferring Dratini to the box, we are ready to go and get it! I headed out north through Route 1 and reached Aquacorde Town where there is no Pokemon Center! After meeting our friends, I'm told that the nearest Pokemon Center on the other size of Santalune Forest in Santalune City.

We wonder traded immediately (because you can do that right away in Generation VI) and receive a Squirtle!

How appropriate!

Heading out through Route 2 and the Santalune Forest, I also catch a Pidgey, Caterpie, and Weedle.

I swear these are the first four
Pokemon I ever owned

We make it through the Forest, and finally reach Santalune City and get our beloved Dratini!

Yay!

With a solid start, we go back through Santalune Forest and defeat the trainers I passed by the first time through. We also went to Route 22 to train, but before doing so I but Caterpie and Weedle in the box. Sure they evolve early, but Butterfree and Beedrill just won't really be able to keep up power wise with everything else. I also received a Sandshrew through wonder trade.

With all of the trainers in the surrounding areas out of the way and Pidgey knowing Gust, it's time to challenge the gym!

With Pidgey leading the charge, all of Viola's bugs dropped like flies! With badge in hand, we head out on Route 4 and the rest of Kalos!
